Character: Willow Rosenberg Series/Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Deviance: 1 Age: 27 Gender: Female Species: Human Ring Color: Bronze Canon Used: Post-TV series and just before Season Eight. |
| The Details |
Psychology: Willow is a nuturing, positive, mostly serene person. She has a lightly risque sense of humor, a bit of snark, and tends to smile more often than not. She's not one to get angry without reason, and even then, it takes a lot to raise her temper. She also seems to have a strong sense of outrage against political injustice, especially that committed against Native Americans. She can be either a leader or a follower, given the situation; she has stepped into Buffy's role as leader on more than one occasion. Willow can have an extreme sense of guilt, especially when someone other than herself is harmed or hurt, and even more so when she feels it's her fault. She cares deeply for those she considers friends or lovers, and will do just about anything for them. Buffy's own sister, Dawn, has said that Willow has kind of been a mother to her since her own died. In light of all her maturity, Willow still has a bit of awkwardness to her. Most of it's disappeared with age, but she still retains a little bit of it. Willow also has a massive fear of frogs; even seeing one tends to freak her out. Other Skills/Abilities: Being a powerful Wiccan/witch, Willow has various powers and abilities. Aside from her intelligence and skill with computers, her magical abilities make her, according to Anya, the most powerful Wiccan in the Western Hemisphere. Willow is capable of imbuing herself with super strength rivaling Buffy's, flying, absorbing life from others, teleportation, being impervious to physical damage, healing herself and others instantly at will, unleashing powerful energy blasts, locating people and objects at distance, and exerting powerful levels of telekinesis and telepathic mind control. This mind control even extends to Anya, despite Anya's statement that Vengeance Demons are immune to mind controlling magics. In Season Eight, it's shown she can fly by sheer force of will, project vast amounts of energy from her hands and cast aside powerful spells. She has full control of her magical powers, and can tap into darker magic without it affecting her; despite this, her hair still goes darker when she taps into powerful magic. She can also now heal extreme injuries quickly, including up to partial lobotomy. Aside from her magic, Willow is naturally intelligent. She was a straight A student, and is always learning new things even out of school. Her skill with computers and technology is quite high; she's practically a genius when it comes to hacking. Other Weaknesses: As powerful as she is, Willow is still human. Had she been fully lobotomized, for example, she would have died. She is still prone to gunshots, blades, any sort of weaponry if she doesn't see it coming. If she is beheaded, she will not regrow a head or anything like that. Limbs... I'm going to say they can be regrown, but at a very slow rate. She also can get sick, catching colds and flus just like anyone else. |
| The Background |
History: Willow Danielle Rosenberg was a smart, nerdy wallflower who was teased and ridiculed by more popular people, praticulary the popular Cordelia Chase. Then she met Buffy Summers, a new girl at Sunnydale High school. It didn't take long for her to learn her new best friend was a Slayer, a chosen girl destined to fight vampires, demons, and other baddies. She quickly decided to help Buffy out using her intelligence, as well as her computer and hacking skills. During this time, she had a crush on her longtime friend Xander Harris, but he was oblivious as he continued to try, unsuccessfully, to catch Buffy's eye. However, she caught Xander kissing Cordelia on accident, and decided to move on. She started to date the lead guitarist of the local band "Dingoes Ate My Baby", Daniel Osbourne, better known as Oz. She continued to date him even after learning he was a werewolf, stating that "three days out of the month, I'm not much fun to be around either." Later on, Jenny Calendar, a teacher and technopagan (one who uses both technology and witchcraft, sometimes in unison) that Willow admired was murdered by Angelus (better known as Angel), Buffy's vampire boyfriend. This is when she first starts to experiment with witchcraft, along with teaching her classes for the rest of the year. She eventually performs the Ritual of Restoration and re-ensouls Angel. Her senior year, Willow continues to expand her talents with witchcraft, and also continues her rleationship with Oz. She eventually joins a coven with fellow magic users Amy Madison and Michael Czajak. As a result, later on, she becomes the victim of a witch hunt led by the parents of Sunnydale. They had formed a group called Mothers Opposed to the Occult, almost burning her, Amy, and Buffy and the stake. However, it turned out to be nothing but the spell of a demon, which was broken in time for Buffy to kill the demon using the very stake she was tied to. Even though both Willow and Xander are in relationships, they find themselves harboring growing feelings for one another. It comes to a head as they are being held hostage by Spike, and they kiss, believing they will not escape alive. Unfortunately, they are caught in the act by Oz and Cordelia, who came to rescue them. However, Willow and Oz manage to work things out (even as Xander and Cordelia broke up for good). Tired of being "old reliable", Willow decides to aid former vengeance demon Anya Jenkins with a spell, unwittingly releasing her own vampire counterpart from an alternate universe. She is shocked at the doppelganger, especially her homosexual tendencies, but cannot bear to have her evil double staked, convincing her friends to send her back to her universe. After graduating Sunnydale High (the graduation ceremony almost bringing about the end of the world), despite having offers from Harvard, Yale, and Oxford, Willow instead ops to attend UC Sunnydale with Buffy. Her reasons, obviously, come from wanting to keep helping Buffy with her fight against evil. "I'm on my way to becoming a badass Wicca. What better place to learn?" Willow and Buffy end up being roommates at UC Sunnydale, and Willow and Oz break up due to Oz cheating on Willow with a female werewolf and then leaving town. Willow becomes involved in the campus Wicca group, but finds it disappointing, save for Tara Maclay, a serious witch. They discover each other's magic, soon becoming friends, lovers, and later on soulmates. Oz does return to Sunnydale, having gotten control over his wolf side, and hopes to continue his relationship with Willow. Willow, however, gives it serious thought, and after coming out to Buffy, she chooses Tara over Oz. After this, Willow's powers start to increase dramatically, as does her love for Tara when she learns how she overcame her family and their abusive lies. However, she and Tara get into an arguement when Tara voices her concerns at how powerful Willow has become. Shortly after, Tara is "brain-sucked" by Glory, hell-goddess, and left in an insane, babbling state. Willow arms herself for a fight (ignoring Buffy's warnings) and attacks Glory with knives and dark magic, managing to weaken her a good deal before Buffy comes to the rescue. When Buffy later goes into a catatonic state, Willow magically enters her mind and frees her, assuring her that they will find a way to defeat Glory. In the final fight against Glory, Willow manages to slow her down by restoring Tara's mind, reuniting with her lover. However, Buffy is forced to sacrifice herself to save the life of her sister, Dawn. Willow's magical powers soon peak, and she uses them to resurrect Buffy, Willow and the rest of her friends thinking that due to her sacrifice, she was in a hellish place (in fact, Buffy was in Heaven). Afterwards, Willow becomes addicted to magic, this causing Tara to be driven away and landing Dawn in the hospital. These events lead Willow to face her problem, and she stops using magic. That changes when Tara is murdered by Warren Mears. Rage overcame Willow, her eyes and hair becoming dark as she was overwhelmed with grief. She flays Warren alive, then goes after his accomplices, while also turning against her friends. She absorbs so much power that she is overcome by all the pain she senses in the world, and attempts to trigger the apocalypse to end it all. She is stopped by Xander; out of love, he refused to leave her alone, regardless of what she has done or is doing, causing her to break down. This was also due to the face she absorbed power from Giles, which put her back in touch with her true emotions and feelings. Willow then lives with Giles in England for a time, to deal with her magical nature and her place in the universe. Slowly, she regains control of her powers. She also starts a relationship with a Potential Slayer named Kennedy. After their first kiss, Willow finds herself transforming into Warren, the result of a hex placed on her by Amy, who wanted revenge. Kennedy manages to save her, helping her come to terms with Tara's death and convincing Willow to move on. Willow later battles a powerful divine entity known as Jasmine, holding her own defense, and restores Angel's soul a second time. In the final battle against The First Evil, Willow fully overcomes her dark side and use her powers for good again. To emphasize this as she cast the spell, her hair and eyes turned crystal white, the opposite of "Dark Willow". She manages to activate the power of the Slayer in Potentials all over the globe, changing the rules for the entire Slayer line. Doing this, she managed to summon an army of Slayers powerful enough to fight The First Evil. She goes with Buffy and Xander to Ohio after Sunnydale is sucked into the Hellmouth. Current Story Point: After the events of Sunnydale, Willow soon spends time in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with Kennedy, as well as visiting the Himalayas and astrally projecting to another plane. Soon after this, Kennedy experiences a month-long mystical death. Willow agrees with Kennedy to take things slowly after this event. She also confesses to Kennedy that she tries to keep distance between Buffy and Kennedy because she fears the same fate that befell Tara may happen to her. |
